Bit Drives with Ratcheting Function
A 1/4" reversible ratchet can drive not only socket inserts but also screwdriver bits when used with the appropriate bit adapter. To do this, a suitable bit adapter is inserted into the square drive of the reversible ratchet. The adapter connects the drive to the bit’s 1/4" hexagon socket. The bit is then inserted into the adapter and securely locked in place. The direction of rotation can be conveniently changed using the switching lever. This combination is suitable for changing tasks that require switching between socket and bit profiles.
Special bit ratchets feature an internal hexagon for directly accepting bits with a retaining spring that holds the bit securely. Instead of a bit, the internal hexagon can also be combined with a square-drive adapter.
Bit Holders and Bit Screwdrivers
A bit holder or bit screwdriver is the straightforward solution for manual screwdriving tasks. The tool feels familiar in the hand, bits can be changed quickly and the applied force can be finely controlled. A magnetic bit holder can also hold the bit securely and make changing it easier. - Application: Extremely confined installation spaces, such as those frequently encountered during bicycle and motorcycle repairs, in vehicle engine compartments or when working on complex furniture assemblies.
- Features: With a length of approximately 90 mm, it almost disappears into the palm of your hand. It features a lever for switching between clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation, has fine-toothing with 60 teeth and accepts standard bits directly in the head.
Working Around Corners

- Application: Ideal for working around corners or in areas where the tool needs to be positioned flat but operated at an angle, for example inside a vehicle dashboard or during interior construction.

A standard bit screwdriver is turned fully like a conventional screwdriver. When turning it back, the tool generally has to be repositioned or your grip has to be changed. A bit ratchet or ratcheting screwdriver, on the other hand, features a ratchet mechanism: The tool can remain engaged with the screw and continue turning through back-and-forth movements. This saves time and effort, particularly when working in confined spaces. Depending on the model, the direction of rotation can be set to clockwise, counter-clockwise or fixed using a switch or rotating ring.
A robust ratchet mechanism that operates reliably even at higher torques and an ergonomic, non-slip handle are essential. A high tooth count, such as 72 teeth, can reduce the return angle and is therefore advantageous in confined working areas.
