Driving a nail into a wooden batten places different demands on a hammer than aligning a tile or loosening a seized metal component. - Machinist’s hammer: The classic all-rounder. The flat, square face is used for driving in nails or striking chisels and pin punches. The wedge-shaped peen is used to deform metal in a controlled manner, for example when hammering sheet metal, or to position small nails in confined corners (R9212 series).
- English machinist’s hammers (ball-peen hammers): Instead of a pointed peen, this hammer has a ball-shaped end. It is used in metalworking to harden and compact metal surfaces, close rivets or shape sheet metal evenly without leaving sharp edges. These models, also known as ball-peen hammers, are fitted with a robust hickory handle as standard (R9216 series).
- Framing hammer: The face is often textured to prevent it from slipping off the nail. The head has a pointed claw on one side for gripping wooden beams, as well as a magnetic nail holder that allows nails to be positioned with one hand (R9240 series).
- Claw hammer: This hammer has a curved, split claw, also known as a gooseneck. The leverage provided by the head makes it particularly easy to pull incorrectly driven nails out of wood (R9243 series).
- Rubber mallet: The thick rubber heads cushion the blow and distribute the force over a larger surface area. This prevents the workpiece from being damaged or scratched. It is ideal for gently positioning sensitive components such as tiles, wooden joints or sheet metal (R9250 series).
- Sledgehammer: This hammer works primarily through mass and kinetic energy. Its heavy head, usually weighing between 3 and 5 kg or more, and its long handle, which is operated with both hands, generate considerable impact force during the swing. It is used for heavy demolition and dismantling work or for driving in thick posts (R9230 series).
