GEDORE

Forging Service for Custom-Made Forged Parts

As a manufacturer of hand and special tools, GEDORE brings together over 100 years of experience, deep process knowledge and state-of-the-art technology in a powerful forging service. As a specialist in high-quality forged parts, we offer precision-fit solutions for demanding applications and support you throughout the entire development and production process – from the initial idea to the ready-to-use component.

With our own forging centres at two locations in Germany, we manufacture under our own brand while simultaneously developing custom solutions for a wide range of industrial requirements. You benefit from the long-standing experience and comprehensive expertise of our team, who approach every challenge with technical know-how and an uncompromising commitment to quality. The focus is on stable, efficient constructions tailored precisely to each project. By using leading forging simulations, processes can be optimised at an early stage, material usage improved, and both economic and technical advantages realised for you. Are you looking for an experienced partner for the production of forged parts? GEDORE supports you from the first idea through to the approved series component.

Full-Service Partner for the Production of Forged Parts

Forged parts are used wherever maximum mechanical load capacity, dimensional accuracy and longevity are required. Our customers come from mechanical engineering, industrial truck and conveyor technology, agricultural machinery, valve manufacturing, fastening technology and marine engine construction. What they all share is the need for components that perform reliably under tough conditions – day after day. That is why we approach forging holistically: from requirements analysis and specifications through feasibility studies, product design and costing to sampling, quotation, production and logistics – everything from a single source. This principle ensures short communication channels, high flexibility and seamless quality control throughout the entire value chain.

  • High material expertise thanks to our own materials laboratory
  • Examination of raw materials by means of spectral analysis
  • Supplier audits carried out on a regular basis
  • Forged parts in small, medium and large batch sizes
  • Machining with modern CNC 5-axis machining centres
  • Surface finishing by chrome plating or nickel plating

A Forge with Experience

The GEDORE forge masters the full spectrum of industrial forging processes. Depending on component geometry, batch size and material, our experts select the optimum process – or combine several technologies for the best result.

✓ Drop forging (hammer forging)
✓ Press forging
✓ Robot forging
✓ Open-die forging

Quality Assurance: Reliability Down to the Last Forged Part

Every forged part that leaves GEDORE has undergone a complete quality inspection. Operator self-inspection and final inspection work hand in hand. On request, we carry out 100% crack detection by magnetic particle testing – on every single component, under optimal conditions. Optical 3D measurement technology (GOM), material analysis and fluxing complement the testing spectrum. GEDORE's forging expertise is confirmed by renowned certifications:

✓ Lloyd's Register (forged parts)
✓ TUeV Directive 97/23/EC (approved material manufacturer)
✓ DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 (quality management systems)
✓ DIN EN ISO 50001:2001 (energy management systems)

Answers to the Most Frequently Asked Questions

Industrial forging is a forming process in which metallic materials are shaped as required by applying pressure or impact. Unlike machining, the material’s grain flow is retained, resulting in greater strength and toughness of the components. GEDORE uses hammer forging, press forging, robot forging and open-die forging.

Forged components are characterised by an optimised grain flow, high strength, toughness and fatigue resistance. They are particularly suitable for dynamically loaded components where reliability and durability are crucial — for example in mechanical engineering, vehicle manufacturing and marine engine construction.

GEDORE manufactures forged components in small, medium and large batch sizes. Batch sizes of up to 15,000 pieces are possible for hammer forging, while robot forging is available for batches of 2,000 pieces or more. Open-die forging is suitable for customised quantities without a minimum order quantity.

GEDORE processes carbon steels, quenched and tempered steels, case-hardening steels, stainless steels, aluminium alloys and special materials. The material is selected based on the component requirements and verified by spectral analysis in GEDORE’s own materials laboratory.

GEDORE relies on a multi-stage quality assurance system comprising operator self-inspection, final inspection, optical 3D measurement technology (GOM), magnetic particle testing and material analysis. The processes are certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001. On request, 100% crack testing can be carried out on every component.

GEDORE supports customers from requirements analysis and product design through toolmaking and production to logistics. All services — design, die making, forging, surface treatment and quality inspection — are carried out in-house. This shortens coordination processes and ensures consistent quality throughout.
