GEDORE Bit Ratchets and Bit Screwdrivers
Bit Drives with Ratcheting Function
With a bit drive featuring a ratchet, screws can be tightened or loosened quickly and powerfully by moving the handle back and forth, without having to reposition the ratchet after every movement.
This is particularly practical for:
- confined installation spaces thanks to a small, flat ratchet head
- fast work due to the small return angle
- high flexibility, as different bits and adapters can be used
- controlled screwdriving by switching between clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation
- increased power transmission compared with a conventional bit screwdriver
Bit Ratchets and Reversible Ratchets with Adapter
GEDORE offers various solutions for efficient bit driving with ratchets, even in extremely confined spaces. Used with an adapter, the 1/4" ratchet 2093 U-20 becomes a versatile bit tool for industry and automotive applications. Its small, teardrop-shaped head, fine-toothing with 40 teeth and 9° return angle enable precise work at hard-to-reach screw connections. The switching lever and push-button release ensure convenient handling. In combination with particularly thin-walled 1/4" socket inserts, it is suitable for both machine-operated and manual use and is included in the 666-U-20 and TC 666-MU-20 sets.
Another solution is the 1/4" 671 reversible bit ratchet. With its 15° return angle, knurled head for fast turning or counterholding and low overall height, it is ideal for working in extremely confined spaces.
Bit Drives with Bit Screwdrivers: Precise and Convenient
Compared with a ratchet, a bit screwdriver requires more room for movement, but offers a particularly direct screwdriving feel through direct and controlled power transmission. It is well suited to general assembly, repair and DIY work.
It is particularly suitable for:
- precise tightening and loosening of screws
- good control over torque and the screwdriving process
- quick bit changes with interchangeable holders or magazine screwdrivers
- comfortable working thanks to ergonomic handles
- versatile applications, as different bit profiles can be used
Bit Screwdrivers with Magazine and Ratchet
The compact 670 M bit screwdriver with an ergonomic 2-component handle is one example of a suitable bit drive. Its slim bit-holder design is ideal for confined spaces, while the powerful magnet securely holds the screw on the bit.
A ratcheting screwdriver with bit holder, such as the SilentGear series, offers even greater efficiency. The rotating ring enables quick switching from clockwise to counter-clockwise rotation. In the neutral middle position, the ratchet is locked for screwdriving without the ratcheting function. The powerful neodymium magnet securely holds the bit, while the return angle is almost 0°, enabling particularly fast work in confined spaces. SilentGear is also available with a bit garage and in a short version with a quick-release function.
The 671 M Bit Ratchet Multi-Tool
3 Components – 5 Functions
The GEDORE 671 M multifunction bit ratchet combines five practical applications in one compact tool: bit ratchet, 1/4" square-drive ratchet, T-handle, swivelling head and extension. This offers maximum versatility for assembly, repair and service work – mobile, flexible and space-saving.
Conversion to a T-Handle
The 671 M is also highly effective as a T-handle. To use it in this configuration, the extension is guided through the ratchet head. The laser-marked area and the white dot on the ratchet head make it easier to position the tool correctly.
Flexible Head Position
The ratchet head swivels through 180°, enabling comfortable angled work. The design can be adjusted quickly, precisely and securely using the push button.
Bit and Socket Connections
The 1/4" bit ratchet is suitable for universal use with bits and 1/4" sockets in combination with an adapter. Despite its compact design, it transmits high torque: The ratchet is rated for up to 65 Nm, while the 1/4" handle end is rated for up to 50 Nm. The extension can also be inserted into the end of the handle for deeply recessed screw connections.

Answers to the Most Frequently Asked Questions
A standard bit screwdriver is turned fully like a conventional screwdriver. When turning it back, the tool generally has to be repositioned or your grip has to be changed. A bit ratchet or ratcheting screwdriver, on the other hand, features a ratchet mechanism: The tool can remain engaged with the screw and continue turning through back-and-forth movements. This saves time and effort, particularly when working in confined spaces. Depending on the model, the direction of rotation can be set to clockwise, counter-clockwise or fixed using a switch or rotating ring.
Standard bits with a 1/4" hexagonal shank generally fit. Depending on the screw, slotted, Phillips, Pozidriv, TX or hexagon socket bits can be used, for example. Before use, the bit holder, bit profile and size should match the tool and the screw. Depending on the model, suitable adapters can also be used to connect 1/4" socket inserts.
A mini bit ratchet is particularly flat and compact. This enables it to reach screw connections where a standard screwdriver or L-shaped screwdriver would not have enough clearance. At the same time, the flat handle allows good power transmission. It is therefore a practical solution for repair, assembly and service work in confined spaces.
A robust ratchet mechanism that operates reliably even at higher torques and an ergonomic, non-slip handle are essential. A high tooth count, such as 72 teeth, can reduce the return angle and is therefore advantageous in confined working areas. The ratcheting screwdriver should also feature precise direction adjustment and a secure bit holder.
