The 3-Component Power-Grip³ Handle

The 3-component Power-Grip³ handle is the central handle feature of the GEDORE screwdriver range. It consists of three coordinated material components: a hard supporting core, a soft grip zone and a hard-plastic collar that ensures a positive-locking connection to the blade. This connection is crucial: It prevents the handle from twisting relative to the blade, even under high torque, ensuring direct, loss-free power transmission.

The ergonomic shape of the Power-Grip³ handle is designed for comfortable handling during long work sequences. Different grip zones allow either precise fingertip operation or powerful full-hand operation, depending on the task. This reduces fatigue and supports clean, repeatable work. On VDE versions, the Power-Grip³ handle also features VDE insulation that electrically protects the entire handle and, in combination with the fully insulated blade, the entire tool.

VDE Screwdrivers: Safe up to 1,000 Volts

In electrical engineering, control cabinet work, building services engineering, plant engineering and wherever work is carried out on live or potentially live components, VDE screwdrivers are an essential safety tool. The VDE screwdrivers are tested in accordance with EN 60900 / IEC 60900 and insulated for up to 1,000 V AC and 1,500 V DC. Every tool is individually tested, meaning that each individual screwdriver undergoes an electrical test before delivery rather than only samples from production being tested.

The complete insulation extends not only to the handle but to the entire blade. This protects users in electrical environments even if the blade accidentally comes into contact with live parts. The blades are made of molybdenum-vanadium steel and hardened, ensuring high mechanical strength and long service life.

Impact Cap for Additional Impact Force

An impact cap extends the range of applications of a screwdriver when dealing with particularly seized screw connections. Targeted hammer blows can be applied via the robust cap at the end of the handle to loosen corroded or stiff connections, for example. The screwdriver must be specifically designed to withstand this additional load.

GEDORE offers this design, among others, on the 3K screwdriver 2154SK. The impact cap is combined with an ergonomic Power-Grip³ handle and a hardened hexagonal blade made of molybdenum-vanadium steel. This creates a screwdriver for applications where additional impact force is required alongside controlled manual force.

Additional Hexagon Drive for Higher Torque

With particularly tight screw connections, the manual force that can be transmitted through the handle may reach its limit. An additional hexagon drive on the blade allows a suitable wrench to be applied, providing greater leverage for loosening or tightening the connection.

GEDORE combines this design feature with a hexagonal blade on various screwdrivers. On the 2154SK, the additional hexagon drive is located between the handle and the working tip. Different wrench sizes are used depending on the version and size. The hexagon drive therefore complements conventional power transmission through the screwdriver handle, particularly for demanding assembly and disassembly work.

Screwdriver Sets for Different Applications

When different screw sizes or drive profiles are regularly used, screwdriver sets provide a coordinated tool selection. Instead of assembling individual sizes, the screwdrivers required for a particular application are available together as a set.

The GEDORE range includes classic screwdriver sets as well as offset screwdriver sets for different screw profiles. Different combinations, size ranges and designs are available depending on the application. Offset screwdriver sets are particularly suitable for hexagon socket and internal TX screws and, thanks to their compact design, also enable work in confined spaces.

Answers to the Most Frequently Asked Questions

VDE screwdrivers are tested in accordance with the European standards EN 60900 / IEC 60900 and insulated for up to 1,000 V AC and 1,500 V DC. The key difference from conventional screwdrivers is not only the insulated handle, but the complete insulation of the entire blade. This protects the user even if the blade accidentally touches a live surface. Important: Every VDE tool must be individually tested. This means that not merely a sample from production is tested; each individual tool undergoes an electrical safety test. GEDORE VDE screwdrivers fully meet this requirement.

The correct drive profile depends exclusively on the screw to be tightened or loosened. Choosing the wrong profile can cause damage. Slotted is the oldest profile and is now used mainly in older systems, electrical installations and simple applications. Phillips PH is widely used in electronics, vehicle construction and consumer products. Pozidriv PZ is used in furniture construction, housebuilding and many European applications. PH and PZ are not interchangeable: Although they look similar, they differ in geometry. TX provides higher torque transmission with the same amount of effort and is increasingly used in vehicle technology, mechanical engineering and the electrical industry. Hexagon socket profiles are common in machine assembly and mechanical engineering. GEDORE offers all common profiles in different drive sizes and blade lengths.

The handle of a screwdriver has a direct influence on the force that can be transmitted, user fatigue and the safety of the connection. A 2-component handle consists of a hard supporting core and a soft, non-slip outer layer. This improves handling and reduces pressure points during longer work sequences. GEDORE’s 3-component Power-Grip³ handle additionally provides a positive-locking connection between the handle and blade. The third component is a hard plastic element that prevents the handle from twisting under high torque and ensures direct, loss-free power transmission. The ergonomic handle shape also allows either precise fingertip operation or powerful full-hand operation, depending on the task. VDE versions also feature complete insulation of the handle.

SLIM DRIVE refers to a design with a significantly smaller blade diameter than usual while maintaining full mechanical and electrical safety. This allows access to screws located deep inside narrow screw channels, housings or terminal blocks, where a standard screwdriver cannot be inserted because of its larger blade diameter. These versions are particularly useful for electrical installation, terminal work in control cabinets and electronics manufacturing. GEDORE also offers SLIM DRIVE versions in VDE quality, such as the VDE 2162 PH 2 for Phillips PH screws.

Offset screwdrivers are used whenever a straight screwdriver cannot be used because of limited space or an unfavourable screw arrangement. The drive angled at 90 degrees makes it possible to tighten or loosen screws in areas that are inaccessible with a straight tool, such as at the side of housings, behind sheet metal or in compact mechanical assemblies. GEDORE offers offset screwdrivers for hexagon socket screws in different sizes, colour-coded versions for quick size identification and VDE-insulated versions for live areas, such as the V 42 10. Ball-head versions also allow a working angle of up to 25 degrees
