Environmental responsibility

Environmental sustainability and environmental protection are firmly embedded in our corporate philosophy and shape our everyday actions. By using modern technologies and optimising our processes, we are continuously and sustainably reducing our energy consumption. We also ensure that resources are used efficiently across all areas of the business. Our product development is guided by ecological criteria – in line with our corporate promise, “Tools for life”, we have always focused on durable and repairable products. Through targeted measures, such as using renewable energy and reducing emissions throughout our entire value chain, we are consistently working to reduce our carbon footprint.

Effluent-free production as the benchmark

Ensuring access to clean drinking water and adequate sanitation for everyone requires a significant improvement in water quality. As a manufacturing company, we therefore use effluent-free electroplating supported by a vacuum evaporator. We have also succeeded in significantly reducing the use of substances hazardous to water. In production, we use only substances in Water Hazard Class 1 or lower as cooling lubricants and lubricants.

Our sites in transition

The more companies use renewable energy and advanced, clean technologies, the closer we come to making affordable, reliable and sustainable energy available to everyone. We are gradually switching to LED lighting, already heat some of our sites using heat pumps and solar energy, and are preparing to connect further German sites to an environmentally friendly local heating network. Our automatic turning shop is heated energy-efficiently using a heat pump, and all waste heat from the exhaust air is recovered.

Sustainability starts with the product

Sustainability has always been part of GEDORE’s approach. Our tools are characterised by exceptional durability and quality and are generally used for decades. Customers can send their tools to us for repair. We repair and calibrate torque wrenches from our own production – and products that are more than 40 years old regularly find their way back to us. For us, durability is not a marketing promise, but a measurable contribution to sustainable consumption.

Our path to Scopes 1–3

We are consistently working to improve our environmental sustainability: from gradually reducing substances hazardous to water in production and switching our electroplating processes to the low-pollutant chromium(III) process, through to reducing CO² emissions. For our companies in the DACH region, we are already able to prepare a carbon footprint covering Scopes 1–3. By using 100% renewable electricity, we are emissions-neutral in Scope 2 in the DACH region. In addition to the existing heat pump system, we have installed a photovoltaic system at our site in Vaihingen an der Enz and decided to connect our Donaueschingen site to the environmentally friendly local heating network.
